James K. Franklin, 17

James Franklin, a 17-year-old black man, was shot multiple times in the leg and groin about 7:50 p.m. Wednesday, April 8,  while walking near 255th Street and Marigold Avenue in Harbor City, according to Los Angeles police officials. He was taken to a hospital where he died the following day, authorities said.

An 18-year-old man walking with Franklin was shot in the back and wounded, police said. He was listed in stable condition at a hospital the day after the shooting.

Police detectives said they believed the shooting was gang-related, but  they had no description of the suspects.
