James Lamont Taylor, 36

James Lamont Taylor, a 36-year-old black man, was shot and killed Tuesday, June 5, in the 800 block of East 84th Street in Florence, according to Los Angeles County coroner’s records.

Taylor was walking west on East 84th Street shortly after 8:30 a.m., when a person with a gun chased him and shot him multiple times, Los Angeles Police Det. Chris Barling said.

The gunman then got into a gray sedan that fled east on East 84th Street and north on Wadsworth Avenue, Barling said.

Taylor collapsed in the driveway of a residence, according to coroner’s records, and was pronounced dead at the scene at 8:48 a.m.

Detectives are investigating a motive in the shooting, Barling said.

Days have gotten even longer for his loved ones without him no longer being here. Holidays are near and his mother and father are carrying this heavy pain in their hearts. His children will no longer share laughter and happiness with their father again. Maybe only in dreams, memories ,thoughts , and spirit but not in reality. His sister and nieces will remember the jokes shared between them, but will realize no more new jokes will come. His family will be missing his face around gatherings and feeling the emptiness of his presence. How heartbreaking for us all who love him ? Who misses him?who laughed with him? Who enjoyed our days with him? Who felt his precious presence? Who loved his smile? Who always looked forward to his jokes and goofy ways ? Please help us! Give us a reason why! Help us gain closure! Solve his case! It’s been four going on five months now and we are still in shock . We miss him every second of a day . We need answers please. Please do something.

James was Such an amazing and wonderful man who was on the right path. He worked multiple jobs constantly to ensure that he provided for his family and children. He was a pillar of the community, a role model not only for his children but the children in his family as well as in his neighborhood, and at the school he worked at. James will always be remembered for his kind heart , his infectious smile ,and his beautiful soul. May he receive justice and never be forgotten. I’ll love you always and we will meet again and be reunited. His children and his family deserves to know why he died so senselessly, so that they could find some type of peace with his parting. We all miss you dearly Lamont and we’ll never stop loving you.
