James Marcus Howe (2013-11-27)

James Marcus Howe, a 42-year-old black man, was shot and killed Wednesday, Nov. 27, in the 4400 block of West Avenue 42 in Glassell Park, according to Los Angeles County coroner’s records.

About 10:55 a.m., Howe and his wife were in their home when a person knocked on their front door posing as a solicitor. As the two walked toward the door, another man and a woman forced their way inside, police said.

A struggle ensued and one of the intruders shot Howe and his wife with a handgun.

Howe, a reality TV director, was pronounced dead at 11:09 a.m. at the scene, according to coroner’s records.

The suspects were described by police as a black male between 16 and 22; a black male between 20 and 25; and a black female.

The three fled in a dark-colored early 2000s Ford Mustang.
