Jane Doe No. 11, an unidentified woman, was found fatally shot Wednesday, March 2, near Turnbull Canyon Road and Skyline Drive in Hacienda Heights, according to Los Angeles County coroner's records.

[Updated March 17, 3:32 p.m.: An earlier version of this post, based on preliminary information from the coroner's office, said the victim died of blunt force trauma.]

A jogger discovered Doe's body about 4 p.m., authorities said.

The death is being investigated as a homicide, said Deputy Benjamin Grubb of the Los Angeles County sheriff's headquarters bureau. He could not immediately provide any further details.

At the time, homicide investigators for the L.A. County Sheriff’s Department had to call off their site investigation in rainy weather as darkness approached in the residential area, which has steep slopes and dense foliage.

Investigator Jerry McKibben of the Los Angeles County coroner’s office said the victim died of a gunshot wound to the head.
