Janet Perez, 18 [Updated]

Janet Perez, an 18-year-old Latina, was fatally shot Sunday, Sept. 26, in the 2400 block of Chanslor Street in Pomona, according to Los Angeles County coroner's records.

Ed Winter, spokesman for the coroner's office, said Perez was found shot in an alleyway about 3:47 a.m.

Authorities were called and she was pronounced dead at the scene. She suffered from a gunshot wound to the neck and back, according to coroner's records.

The Times has contacted investigators to provide more information about the case and will provide an update as soon as details become available

[Updated Oct. 19, 4:40 p.m.: Pomona Police Department Sgt. Duane Leonard said no arrests have been made in connection with the case.

Investigators are still trying to determine the circumstances leading up to Perez's death, he said.
