A story for every victim

Jason Rasheed Thompson, 26

Jason Rasheed Thompson, a 26-year-old black man, was fatally shot Saturday, Oct. 22, in the 100 block of West 92nd Street in Broadway-Manchester, according to Los Angeles County coroner’s records.

Shortly after 4:15 p.m., police responded to a call of a car crash near South Broadway and West 92nd Street, where they discovered Thompson in the driver’s seat of a 2004 Pontiac Grand Prix. He had been shot, said Los Angeles Police Det. Nathan Kouri.

Investigators found “physical evidence” in the 100 block of West 92nd Street, not far from the collision, and believe Thompson was shot there, Kouri said.

It’s unclear whether Thompson was shot while driving, or shot outside the vehicle, then tried to drive away.

Thompson was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 5:19 p.m., according to coroner’s records.

Detectives don’t have evidence that Thompson was a gang member and are attempting to determine a motive for the killing.
