Jemil McGowan, 38

Jemil McGowan, a 38-year-old black man, died Monday, Sept. 2, after he was assaulted in the 6300 block of South Crenshaw Boulevard in Hyde Park, according to Los Angeles County medical examiner-coroner’s records.

On Friday, Aug. 30, between 12 and 12:30 p.m., McGowan got into a physical fight with another person, said Los Angeles Police Det. David Dilkes.

The next day, McGowan was taken to a hospital for his injuries. McGowan suffered blunt force trauma to the abdomen and died from his injuries on Sept. 2, according to authorities.
