Jesus Mireles-Mecinas, 48

Jesus Mireles-Mecinas, a 48-year-old Latino, died Wednesday, June 14, after he was shot in MacArthur Park near West 7th and South Lake streets in Westlake, according to Los Angeles County coroner’s records.

Mireles-Mecinas was found with gunshot wounds about 12:05 a.m. on June 11, Los Angeles Police Det. Ray Martinez said.

The wounded man, also known as Jose Morales, was discovered near his belongings in the park, where he apparently had been living, Martinez said.

Mireles-Mecinas was taken to a hospital. He died three days later, at 11:20 a.m. June 14, according to coroner’s records.

Police think the attacker or attackers ran away on foot.
