Jim Flores, 22 [Updated]

Jim Flores, a 22-year-old black man, was fatally shot Sunday, July 31, in the 5600 block of Cimarron Street in Chesterfield Square, according to Los Angeles County coroner's records.

The incident occurred about 12:40 a.m. when a gunman walked up to Flores and shot him, said Los Angeles Police Department Officer Karen Rayner.

Flores was taken by paramedics to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead. Coroner's records show he was shot several times in the chest and abdomen.

Police said the suspect appeared to be in his 20s but had no further description.

The shooting is believed to be gang-related.
