Joe Lobos, 24
Joe Lobos, a 24-year-old Latino, was shot and killed Friday, June 29, near Olympic Boulevard and Dacotah Street in Boyle Heights, according to Los Angeles County coroner's records.
LAPD Officer Rosario Herrera said police responded to a call about 12:50 a.m. She said Lobos was found with multiple gunshot wounds to the upper body and pronounced dead at the scene.
KTLA reports that the victim was driving east on Olympic about a block from the home he shares with his wife and child when a dark-colored SUV pulled up alongside him and at least one shooter opened fire.
"The shooting is unusual in that it occurred while the victim was driving and bullets entered the vehicle from both sides of the car," LAPD Sgt. Kevin Moore told KTLA.
Herrera said police have no suspect information and are not sure if the shooting was gang-related.
Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to contact Hollenbeck homicide Det. Garcia or Marin at (323) 342-8996 or (323) 342-8961. Tipsters wishing to remain anonymous can call Crime Stoppers at (800) 222-8477.
