Joey Gutierrez, a 23-year-old Latino, was fatally shot Friday, Jan. 28, near 43rd Street and Main Street in Historic South-Central, according to Los Angeles County coroner's records.
Police received a call regarding a shooting about 8:20 p.m., said LAPD Newton Det. M. Terrazas, who is handling the case.
Gutierrez was found with a gunshot wound to the neck and taken to California Hospital Medical Center for treatment. He died about an hour and a half later, Terrazas said.
Investigators do not have a description of the shooter, but they believe the incident was gang-related.
