Johannes Jurgens Bornman Jr., a 34-year-old white man, died Saturday, Oct. 18, according to the Los Angeles County coroner.
Bornman had been shot in the neck while working for a private security force in Iraq in 2006, according to coroner's records.
He developed intracranial bleeding and was pronounced brain dead not long after he was brought to California for rehabilitation, coroner's records said.
His death was listed as a homicide by the coroner. No address was given.
