John Charles Williams, 38

John Charles Williams, a 38-year-old black man, was shot and killed Sunday, Dec. 1, in the 8900 block of South Figueroa Street in Vermont Vista, according to Los Angeles County medical examiner-coroner’s records.

About 9 p.m., Williams was riding his bike north on South Figueroa approaching West 89th Street when a vehicle approached and a person inside began shooting, said Los Angeles Police Det. Nathan Kouri.

The vehicle continued north, police said.

Williams was pronounced dead at the scene at 9:12 p.m., according to coroner’s records.

Police are looking for witnesses.
