A story for every victim

Duncan Wojciechowski, 21

Duncan Wojciechowski, a 21-year-old white man, was found dead in a burned home Thursday, Feb. 16, in the 500 block of North Hobart Boulevard in East Hollywood, according to Los Angeles County coroner's records.

[Editor's note: An earlier version of this post, based on information from the coroner's office, identified the victim as John Doe #32. Additionally, the Los Angeles Police Department says the incident occurred in the 500 block of North Harvard Avenue, not Hobart Boulevard.]

During the investigation, detectives learned four people, including Wojciechowski, were in a home early Thursday afternoon when a man entered and began shooting, according to an LAPD news release.

One man and two women were shot by the alleged assailant, but the injuries were not fatal. The shooter then turned the gun on himself, officials said.

At some point in the shooting, the house caught on fire and was engulfed in flames, police said.

Authorities were alerted about the fire and the three people who were shot were taken out of the home by rescuers.

After about 150 firefighters battled the blaze for 2 1/2 hours, they discovered the shooter and Wojciechowski inside the home dead.

Preliminary coroner’s records show Wojciechowski may have been shot to death.

Authorities described the shooter as a Latino in his 50s who had a former relationship with one of the female victims.
