John Ortiz, 46
John Ortiz, a 46-year-old Latino, was beaten in the head and killed in the 500 block of Glendale Boulevard in Westlake on Sunday, May 2, according to the Los Angeles County coroner's office.
Ortiz was found lying near the door of a business at about 2:30 in the morning, with a large planter turned over on his head, officials said. A passer-by found his body and reported it to the police, but did not witness the killing. Police have few leads, and no clear motive, officials said.
