Johnny Mark Elizalde, 27

Johnny Mark Elizalde, a 27-year-old Latino, was shot and killed Saturday, June 11,  in the 400 block of Shipman Avenue in South San Jose Hills, an unincorporated community east of Industry, according to Los Angeles County coroner’s records. 

Elizalde and another man were leaving a birthday party in the residential neighborhood around 2:30 a.m. when they were confronted by a man with a handgun, said Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Lt. Steve Jauch. 

The gunman, described only as Latino, shot Elizalde in the upper torso and the other man in the head, shoulder and hip, Jauch said. 

Elizalde was pronounced dead at the scene at 2:48 a.m., according to coroner’s records. The second man was taken to a nearby hospital where he is in critical condition, Jauch said. 

After the shooting, a white SUV was seen speeding west on Northam Avenue, the nearest cross street, Jauch said.
