Jonathan Escobar, 16

Jonathan Escobar, a 16-year-old Latino, was shot and killed Saturday, Nov. 20, in the 8200 block of Somerset Boulevard in Paramount, according to Los Angeles County coroner's records.

[For the record at 2:39 p.m. Nov. 26: An earlier version of this post, which was based on the coroner's preliminary report, listed Jonathan's age as 14. He was 16.]

Deputies received a call of shots fired at 11:49 p.m., according to a Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department news release. When deputies arrived, they found Jonathan in a driveway suffering from several gunshot wounds. He was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead, officials said.

Detectives later learned that Jonathan was standing in the driveway when he was approached by four Latinos and shot. Authorities said the assailants were last seen running west on Somerset Boulevard.
