Jonathan Ford, 45

Jonathan Ford, a 45-year-old black man, was shot and killed Saturday, May 23, in the 1700 block of West 52nd Street in Vermont Square, according to Los Angeles County coroner’s records.

Shortly after midnight, Ford was standing on a sidewalk when three black men approached him and attempted to rob him, said LAPD Det. Dave Garrido. One of the men pulled out a handgun and opened fire, wounding Ford. It is unknown what was taken from Ford.

The men then got into a waiting dark-colored sedan and fled. Officers were nearby, which resulted in a pursuit.

Four men have been arrested on suspicion of murder. Aaron Cleveland, a 23-year-old black man, Davon Thomas, a 27-year-old black man, Orlando Ritchie, a 26-year-old black man, and Kenshan Lenoir, a 19-year-old black man, have been charged with one count of murder, according to the Los Angeles County district attorney's office.

Thomas also faces an additional count of shooting at an inhabited dwelling.
