Jonathan V. Valdovinos, 23
Jonathan Valentin Valdovinos, a 23-year-old Latino, was shot and killed Saturday, Feb. 25, in the 1300 block of Murchison Street in Boyle Heights, according to Los Angeles County coroner's records.
About 2:30 p.m., Valdovinos was walking northbound on Murchison Street approaching Lancaster Avenue when a person approached and began shooting, said Los Angeles Police Det. Jose Ramirez.
Valdovinos, whom police said was walking to his home in the area, was pronounced dead at the scene at 2:42 p.m., according to coroner's records.
It's unknown whether the assailant fled on foot or in a car, Ramirez said.
Ramirez added that Valdovinos grew up in the area and might have known his assailant. Valdovinos was not a documented gang member.
