Jordi Astudillo, 22

Jordi Astudillo, a 22-year-old Latino, was shot and killed Wednesday, Nov. 18, in the 900 block of West 41st Street in Vermont Square, according to Los Angeles County coroner’s records.

Shortly before 5 a.m., Astudillo and another man were in an alley when a car drove up and a man got out of the passenger side, said LAPD Det. Dave Garrido. The man asked the two other men about their gang affiliation and then shot at Astudillo, Garrido said.

Astudillo was taken to a hospital where he was pronounced dead at 5:03 a.m., according to coroner’s records.

Police said that according to preliminary witness information, a light-colored sedan drove away north, toward West Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard.
