A story for every victim

Jorge Antonio Nario, 17

Jorge Antonio Nario, a 17-year-old Latino, was shot and killed Thursday, Feb. 1, in the 13200 block of Maclay Street in Sylmar, according to Los Angeles County coroner’s records.

At 7:50 p.m., officers from the LAPD’s Mission Division responded to a call of shots fired and found Nario with gunshot wounds, according to a news release from the department.

Nario was pronounced dead at the scene at 7:53 p.m., according to coroner’s records.

Detectives think Nario got into an argument with people in a white SUV, and when he tried to open the passenger door of the vehicle, the driver shot him, police said.

The SUV fled west on Maclay Street, police said.

Police said the killing is believed to be related to a drug deal.

On March 19, Daniel Gonzalez, a 19-year-old Latino, was taken into custody by police, according to online Sheriff’s Department records.

Gonzalez was charged with one count of murder with the allegation that he used a handgun, according to the Los Angeles County district attorney’s office.
