Jose Albert Holguin, 31

Jose Albert Holguin, a 31-year-old Latino, was shot and killed Tuesday, Jan. 8, near East 1st and South Soto streets in Boyle Heights, according to Los Angeles County medical-examiner coroner’s records.

About 6:40 p.m., Holguin was riding in a car with another person when they stopped outside a liquor store, said Los Angeles Police Det. Jose Ramirez.

Holguin got out of the vehicle, then came back with a gunshot wound.

The other person drove him to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 7:14 p.m., according to coroner’s records.

Police said no arrests have been made and did not provide a suspect description.
