A story for every victim

Jose Chavez, 30

Jose Chavez, a 30-year-old Latino male, died Friday, May 15, in Pomona six days after he was struck by a car while on foot, according to the Los Angeles County.

According to a San Gabriel Valley Tribune story on the incident, police said that Francisco Rodriguez, a 33-year-old Latino, attacked Chavez, who was his neighbor, with his vehicle after discovering that he may have been having an affair with his wife.

Chavez was taken by helicopter to a hospital with a critical head injury, KTLA reported.

Authorities issued an Amber Alert for Rodriguez's 18-month old son and estranged wife, Consuelo, disappeared. KTLA reported that she called police soon after hearing of the alert to say her husband had brought them to a relative's home and they were both safe.

Rodriguez's green 1999 Ford Expedition was found abandoned in Bloomington, about 20 miles east of Pomona. Authorities searching for him said he had ties to Mexico and may have fled the country.
