Jose Ramos Jr., 18

Jose Ramos Jr. (2011-01-23)

Jose Ramos Jr., an 18-year-old Latino, was stabbed to death Sunday, Jan. 23, in the 8700 block of Bradhurst Street in Pico Rivera, according to Los Angeles County coroner's records.

Los Angeles County Sheriff deputies responded to the location, a home, about 12:43 a.m. and found Ramos suffering from stab wounds, according to a department statement.

Ramos was taken by paramedics to a hospital, where he was later pronounced dead. His death is the first homicide of 2011 for the eight-square-mile city located in the southeastern part of Los Angeles County. At least two homicides were reported in the city last year, according to the Homicide Report.

Authorities said the stabbing occurred shortly after a fight broke out between partygoers and 10 to 15 uninvited gang members, who were demanding entry into a birthday party. At least one gang member fired a handgun at several people, but no one was struck, investigators said.

The gang members fled the scene in several directions after the stabbing and shooting. Authorities did not have a description of the suspects.

Anyone with information about the incident can call the Los Angeles Sheriff's Department at (323) 890-5500. Callers can also leave anonymous tips at (800) 222-TIPS (8477).
