Joseph Esparza, 30, a Latino man, was shot and killed at the intersection of Rose Hedge Drive and Gretna Avenue in the unincorporated area of Whittier at about 6:54 p.m. Saturday, May 31. Esparza was taken to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead, according to L.A. County Sheriff's Department.
"No matter what, you're in my heart. You leave behind a mother and child," Esparza's cousin wrote on a carboard left at his memorial shrine.
