Joshua Allen Pitts, 35

Joshua Allen Pitts, a 35-year-old white man, was shot and killed Wednesday, Oct. 30, near 252nd Street and Normandie Avenue in Harbor City, according to Los Angeles County coroner’s records.

About 6:30 p.m., officers from the Los Angeles Police Department’s Harbor Division responded to a call of a shooting and found Pitts suffering from a gunshot wound with people trying to help surrounding him, police said.

Pitts was pronounced dead at the scene at 6:39 p.m., according to coroner’s records.

Investigators determined that moments before the shooting, Pitts got into an argument with another person, said LAPD Officer Jeffrey Tiffin.

The gunman walked into an alley, turned around and shot Pitts, Tiffin said, striking him in the chest.

Isiah Thomas, a 29-year-old black man, was charged Nov. 6 with one count of murder and one count of being a felon in possession of a firearm, according to the Los Angeles County district attorney’s office.

The charges include an allegation that a gun was used during a murder, according to prosecutors.Thomas is due back in court Nov. 20, according to court records.
