Juan Amado Itzep-Mazariegos, a 23-year-old Latino, was shot and killed Wednesday, Jan. 14, in the 1800 block of West Fifth Street in Westlake, according to Los Angeles County coroner’s records.
Police got a call about 2 a.m. about an assault with a deadly weapon inside an apartment, said LAPD Sgt. Michael Mabie.
When they arrived, they found the man dead from a gunshot wound to the back of the head, he said. The shooter fled before police arrived.
Itzep-Mazariegos was pronounced dead at 2:35 a.m., according to coroner’s records.
