Juan Chaires, a 46-year-old Latino , died Wednesday, Oct. 12, a day after he was shot in the 7800 block of Orion Avenue in Van Nuys, according to Los Angeles County coroner's records.

Ed Winter, spokesman for the coroner's office, said Chaires was shot once in the head by his roommate after an argument Oct. 11 about 3:15 p.m.

After the shooting, Chaires was taken to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead the next day at 1:43 p.m.

Authorities have the shooter in custody, Winter said, however he had no additional information.
