Julian Obdulio Romero, 25
Julian Romero, a 25-year-old Latino, was shot and killed Friday, July 23, near Broadway and 40th Place in Historic South-Central, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.
Romero was in a vehicle about 9:10 p.m. when he got into a shooting altercation with a person on the street, said LAPD Newton Det. Louis Calzadillas, who is handling the investigation.
Following the exchange of gunfire, Romero was hit and his car crashed, Calzadillas said.
Authorities were called and Romero was pronounced dead at the scene.
Calzadillas said authorities are still trying to determine whether Romero was by himself in the car. He also said the incident is believed to be gang-related.
