Julie Ann Kates, 46
Julie Kates, a 46-year-old white woman, died Friday, March 12, a day after she collapsed while waiting for a bus at Sunset Boulevard and Kingsley Drive in East Hollywood, according to Los Angeles County coroner's records.
Kates was waiting at a bus stop about 1:20 p.m. when she suddenly fell to the ground, said Ed Winter, a spokesman for the coroner's office. Paramedics were called to the scene and she was taken to Hollywood Presbyterian Medical Center, where medical personnel discovered a gunshot wound to her right temple, Winter said.
Kates died at the hospital the following night at 8 p.m., Winter said.
Kates’ death is listed as a homicide, although coroner’s investigators have not completed the autopsy. LAPD detectives have not released a statement on the circumstances surrounding her death.
