Justino Torres, 60

Justino Torres, a 60-year-old Latino man, was walking to church in the 11800 block of South Figueroa Street at about 7:30 a.m. Sunday, Jan. 13, when a man approached and tried to rob him. Torres was shot once when he tried to ward off the attacker.

Torres was taken by ambulance to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 8:04 a.m. Oscar Blanco, 22, was later arrested by detectives with the South Bureau Homicide Division.
