Karrion Deshawn Doss, 20

Karrion Deshawn Doss, a 20-year-old black man, was shot and killed Wednesday, Aug. 1, in the 700 block of West 80th Street in Vermont Knolls, according to Los Angeles County coroner’s records.

About 8 p.m., Doss was standing in the street when two people walked up to him, and at least one person began shooting, said Los Angeles Police Det. Chris Barling. There were other people standing nearby, but no one else was injured.

The two assailants ran to a vehicle and fled, police said.

Doss was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 8:21 p.m., according to coroner’s records.

Doss was not a gang member, but may have been mistaken for one, Barling said.
