Katherine Faith McNally, a 38-year-old white female, died Saturday, Jan. 9, after being shot near 182 N. Mariposa Ave. in Koreatown, according to Los Angeles County Medical Examiner-Coroner's records.

Katie was closer to me than my own sister. She was so generous and giving, without hesitation or expectation. She wanted to help people because she was inherently good. If you needed a place to stay, she would give you her couch. If you needed money, she would give you what she could or help you find work. She was fun and smart and beautiful. She knew what it was like to live hard. She lived hard her whole life. She grew up in very hard circumstances that she escaped from to become someone others could escape to. She was a guiding light for others to escape the darkness they were in. A bad element seeped its way in and snuffed out that light. Someone couldn't take from her what they wanted so they took her life. I miss her everyday. Im losing my faith and trust in humanity. Look what they do! I love you Katie.
