Kathleen Morse, 85 [Updated]

Kathleen Morse (2010-02-26)

Kathleen Morse, an 85-year-old white woman, died Friday, Feb. 26, after suffering blunt-force trauma to the head in the 2000 block of East Avenue R1 in Palmdale, according to Los Angeles County coroner's records.

Although her death was initially listed as a homicide, a final determination of the death has been deferred, said Ed Winter, a spokesman for the coroner's office. Results will not be available for six to eight more weeks.

Winter said Morse's grandson told authorities that he found her unresponsive in her residence about 3 a.m. He waited until 7 a.m. to call other family members and then paramedics to alert them to his grandmother's condition. Paramedics arrived at the home at 7:35 a.m. and pronounced Morse dead, Winter said. The grandson was taken in for questioning.

[Updated Feb. 28, 2011: Coroner's officials said although Morse suffered blunt-force trauma, they are unable to conclude whether that caused her death. Her cause of death was ruled "undetermined."]
