Keenan Montrell Edwards, 24

Keenan Montrell Edwards, a 24-year-old black man, died Wednesday, Dec. 20, nearly four years after he was shot in the 1900 block of West 54th Street in Chesterfield Square, according to Los Angeles County coroner’s records.

On May 2, 2014, Edwards was walking west on West 54th Street about 9 p.m. when a person walked up to him and shot him, said Los Angeles Police Det. Chris Barling.

Edwards was taken to a hospital after the shooting and was hospitalized off and on for more than three years. 

He was pronounced dead at 5:18 p.m. Dec. 20. Authorities said the shooting ultimately resulted in Edwards’ death.
