Kelly Paul Miller, 58

Kelly Paul Miller, a 58-year-old white man, died Sunday, June 3, after he was stabbed in the 1300 block of Pine Avenue in Long Beach, according to Los Angeles County coroner’s records. 

Long Beach police investigators believe Miller was involved in some kind of fight about 2 a.m. and was stabbed in the upper torso, according to a Police Department news release. 

When officers were called to the scene about 2:05 a.m., they found Miller lying in a parking lot, according to coroner’s records. 

Miller was pronounced dead at the scene at 2:14 a.m., according to coroner’s records. The cause of death was listed as a stab wound to the chest. 

Investigators believe Miller was a transient who had only been in Long Beach for a short time, said department spokesman Sgt. Brad Johnson. 

The suspect, Nestor Guyal Tendido, 59, of Long Beach was arrested on suspicion of murder on  June 9,  Johnson said. He is being held in lieu of $2.02 million bail. Police aren't releasing any more information about the slaying or the suspect. 

Tendido was charged June 10 with murder, with the allegation that he used a knife in the killing, said Sarah Ardalani, spokeswoman for the Los Angeles County district attorney's office. His arraignment was continued to June 27 at the L.A. County Superior Court's Long Beach courthouse.
