Kenneth Onyebuchi Onah, 46

Kenneth Onyebuchi Onah, a 46-year-old black man, was shot and killed Saturday, Jan. 11, in the 15100 block of South Raymond Avenue in Gardena, according to Los Angeles County medical examiner-coroner’s records.

Shortly after 12:30 a.m., officers from the Gardena Police Department responded to a call of shots heard in the 1300 block of Marine Avenue, but didn’t find signs of a shooting or a victim, police said in a statement.

About an hour later, officers received a call of a gunshot victim in the hallway of an apartment building.

Onah was shot in the abdomen, police said. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Detectives believe the shooting occurred behind a security gate of the apartment complex where Onah was a resident.
