A story for every victim

Kenny Jermaine Fulks, 33

Kenny Jermaine Fulks, a 33-year-old black man, was found shot to death May 10 in a cellphone store in the 15200 block of Saticoy Street in Van Nuys, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.

Fulks, the store manager, was found when store employees arrived at 1 p.m. for work to find the doors locked and called police and family members, said Det. Rob Bub with the LAPD’s Van Nuys Division.

Fulks was last believed to have been alive between Thursday, May 9 at 11:30 p.m. and Friday, May 10 at 12:30 a.m., Bub said.

Detectives believe that Fulks was involved in a business dispute with another person.

"We know it’s not just a random robbery at a cellphone store," Bub said.

Family members told KNBC-TV (Channel 4) that Fulks was a father of a 4-year-old daughter and a 2-year-old son.

Detectives have gathered security footage from nearby businesses and are considering robbery as a possible motive in the attack.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Van Nuys homicide detectives at (818) 374-0040 during business hours. The public may call (877) LAPD247 after hours.
