Kenny Ray Harris (2014-09-08)

Kenny Ray Harris, a 36-year-old black man, was shot and killed Monday, Sept. 8, in the 1700 block of East 103rd Street in Watts, according to Los Angeles County coroner’s records.

Shortly before 8 p.m., Harris was in a heated argument with a black man in his 20s, when a security guard stepped in and broke it up, said LAPD Det. Sal LaBarbera.

Both of the men left, then came back to the courtyard of the Washington Court Apartments and began arguing again. The man Harris was arguing with pulled out a gun and shot him multiple times in the upper torso, LaBarbera said.

The gunman then ran north on South Wilmington Avenue. Harris was taken to a hospital where he was pronounced dead at 9:39 p.m., said Ed Winter, assistant chief of investigations for the coroner’s office.

It is unclear what the two men were arguing about.
