Keshawn Corbin, a 17-year-old black man, was fatally shot Sunday, Oct. 16, in the 6700 block of 11th Avenue in Hyde Park, according to Los Angeles County coroner's records.

Corbin was riding his minibike about 1:35 a.m. when three men got out of an SUV and opened fire on him, said Sgt. Angela McGee with the LAPD's 77th Street Station. He died at the scene.

A 19-year-old, who was not believed to be an intended target of the shooters, was also shot in the leg. He was taken to a local hospital and is in stable condition, McGee said.

The suspects are still on the loose. The shooting is believed to be gang-related.

I’ am able to hear everyone’s perspective now without it being too much fathom. It’s been almost 10 years since my brother’s death and I’m still confused and hurt by what happened. I know one of the guys who was responsible for his murdered, was arrested the day after he was killed. There are still 2 others who were responsible but didn’t get caught. They guy who killed him is from Hoover, and been in jail ever since my brother was murdered. Thank you to all condolences, it’s appreciated. My brother did NOT deserve to be murdered at the age of 17.. it’s so sad because our background was hard coming up, and we didn’t have the proper guidance, not everyone is blessed to have parents that care enough to do right by you. He became a victim of his circumstance, I’m sure he never killed anyone, he was just looking up to the wrong people.

I live in the area. Slauson and 3rd ave. There are plenty of teens that live in the area who say they are from 60's or Van ness bloods, mainly because they believe it will make them seem cool to their peers. But if you speak with some of the actual members, and ask, you will hear things like, "i know lil dude but he aint from my hood." or " i never seem lil dude around." Or my personal favorite, "if he from the hood, he aint making no noise". But truth is most of them are born into these situations. Their brothers and cousins are from the hood. Crenshaw District can be very easy to fall into. Regardless of what hood KayKay was from, he was a really cool dude. He came by my house a few times. I seen him alot in the dorset village. I never seen him bothering people or asking people where they from. He would lend a helping hand before he hit you with it. Police love tagging gang related to homicides in los angeles because they know people wouldnt ask questions. They jus shrug it off as " jus a nigga from the hood". If a 7 year old was killed by gang members they would say the same thing, "gang related" that doesnt mean the kid was from a hood. It jus means someone from a hood came though shooting recklessly. Where im from, and i mean the city not a hood, blacks and Hispanics get labelled as gangmembers before any research is done. Its easy to stereotype, its very hard to show some type of emotion towards the inner city kids, but if a white kid from Manhattan beach was killed it would be every cop in the city searching for the trigger man. There are people out there that genuinely want to make a difference but you are simply outnumbered but your counterparts. This shit will NEVER end. Thats jus how Los Angeles is. Its a beautiful bright evil and dangerous place to live But when you dont have vacation homes in other places like these privileged kids do, you cant get away. So everyday you spend here, your taking a risk on your life wether your young, old, black, white, Hispanic, oriental, or whatever else.

Looking at all these comments the only people to blame here are the parents. Why was this kid in placement to begin with? Why is he out? Are there no rules in these homes?

And you ask why aren't things being done to stop this? Are you kidding? You want government to intercede in something that is a family responsibility? Where do you think all the money comes from? It takes work and moral responsibility, it is not a free for all.

It all starts at home. I know many kids that don't have any parental guidance because the mighty drugs take them over too. How are these kids supposed to ever have a chance in life when they are looking for "family" outside their homes?

Wake up parents. Don't rely on anyone to raise your children but you. Raise them, love them and set goals for them. The streets is not one of them.

Time to stop shifting the blame and realize there are consequences for actions. If you want nothing but this life, you chose it. You want to be looked at in a negative way, you chose it. Stop burying your friends and do something productive in life. All of you on here saying RIP to your friend, what are you doing to change it? Nothing.

I have nothing but pity for you. Never would my kid act like this. And I have raised 4 healthy, smart and hardworking individuals who want to better themselves and make a difference. Not ones that bury their friends.

Dear FOol, syscom3, and any others interested,

. . After researching the deaths of a few homicides I have noticed your calling ID's the most. I figure you both have an equal stake in the horrid situations happening, and I would also believe you might live near or in one of these areas.

. . Would either of you know if there is anything being done to resolve this "powder keg" issue of homicides in LA? Obviously theres wrong being done regardless of it being from bystanders, police, or gangs but I have found nothing being done to stop these deaths from happening. Mind you my research is not on what organizations I should support, but as a reader I would like to know. I believe the solution should be more publicly advertised in the blogs. If you both can provide what organizations you support I personally would very much appreciate it.

KK wasn't this kid everyone think he was. I've known him for a long time...as in 12 years. we meet in elamentray and never lost contact.He always had my back and never let me down..becuase he was a gangmeber he knew he had love ones. the day that he diead he called me to see if he could come over cause he didnt feel safe where he was.. HE knew something didnt feel right... i didnt get to my phone in time becasuse i was at work that night....when i got his message it was to late. Please dont sit on here and talk bad about my brother. for the simple fact he'll never do nothing he didnt feel wasnt right. he was out for a good reason. mady it wasnt for the reason u thought was right and maby it was.... But KK was someone everyone called when they need it him....And i feel as tho this was half my fault because i didnt answer....YOu ll be missed and i love you

I'm sorry for his loss...but cuz was bangin'..that simple. I'm not say cuz deserve to die...or anybody for that matter, but the fact remains dude claimed 60's...it's on streetgangs dot com. It's easy to sit back and be like he was innocent and all. He may have been a good kid, but he was runnin' wit the 60's. Do you know anything about the 60's?? I'll just say they're the cause of a lot of black men resting in cemeteries across LA. There's a reason why they, along with the East Coast Crips, are the two most hated Crip gangs in Los Angeles. Kids think listening and mimicking rappers like Nipsey Hussle, Snoop, etc is the thing to do..lil do they know when they join a set...they're liable for anything their set does. Who knows what the 60's had done to the 3 men who hopped out and killed him. At 1 something AM cuz was caught slippin'. who did it?? Anybody could have done it. Eight Treys, IFG's, Hoovers, who knows. And what's worse is some other black mother(s) is going to have to pay for these three black men's deed cuz the 60's will retaliate.

If you cared so much, you would have done something or said something to prevent it. Apart from Jesus Christ, there is NO heaven.
