Kevin Dewayne Henderson, 35

Kevin Henderson a 35-year-old black man, was shot and killed Sunday, April 30, in the 1800 block of East Century Boulevard in Watts, according to Los Angeles County coroner’s records.

Henderson was riding a skateboard on East Century Boulevard about 5:30 p.m. when a vehicle pulled up, said Los Angeles Police Det. Nathan Kouri.

The vehicle stopped and a person got out and began shooting at Henderson, Kouri said.

Henderson was taken to a hospital and pronounced dead. The vehicle, described as a light-colored sedan, fled east on East Century Boulevard, Kouri said.

Police believe the shooter acted alone, but did not yet have a suspect description.

Hey nephew you and the man above know why auntie could not attend your funeral, you know aunties grades from her finals on 5/15/17, 5/17/17, and 5/18/17 my heart hurts so bad but baby boy you was laid to rest in a very beautiful way, you also seen the light weight seizure your auntie had during her final and I know you was there to comfort me I know you are proud of me because we talked about so much of what I was dealing with and going through, you always gave auntie a positive way to look at all of my medical issues as well as all the thing's I am accomplishing. I have to say to the person who committed this senseless crime WHY? WHY? WHY? My nephew's life mattered in so many ways to his family. I am so lost right now nephew, your auntie had gotten so use to you calling me every day but now your not here to do so, I know in my heart justice will prevail and I realize it will take time, for someone to have done this to you I know they should have morals but not everyone does, my heart is extremely crushed, you always talked to me in a positive and concerned way and yes you kept me focused on going to school as well as me fixing my car and nephew those are precious memories no man could every take from me, I can't believe my motivation has been taken from me like this and to know it is honestly true hurts so bad, nephew you may not have been one of my birth children but you are in every sense of life, I will keep the faith that the LAPD solve this case and the person who has committed the cruel heartless crime be sentenced to the maximum time which should be life in prison if not lethal injection. Kevin your Annie Mac do listen to your voice mails to me every night to try and be able to go to sleep it don't work but I do have a small amount of peace nightly, Annie Mac miss your calls and the laughter we shared you will be dearly missed as well as loved always my handsome nephew. I'm his only sister in I know for a fact my brother wasn't a violent person I was his voice always have been only thing I want as his voice is justice that way he can rest in peace I long everyday for his call his first text at 4:30 am or for him to talk to me all day over the phone come by whistle at my window in now I'm stuck with the responsibility of burying my oldest brother in at a total loss for word's I don't even know what to say I'm having faith in my ancestors that justice will be done in that the person who did it needs to know this from his voice he loved you he was a true funny friend in he hope that you can forgive yourself because you was a person that sick mentally in he forgives you now you sleep with that in I hope you can.
