Kevin Johnson, 32

Kevin Johnson, a 32-year-old black man, died Thursday, July 11, after he was shot in the 100 block of West 74th Street in Florence, according to Los Angeles County coroner’s records.

About 11:35 p.m. on July 10, Johnson and three others were standing outside of a duplex when a light-colored SUV drove up to the location and began shooting at the group, said Los Angeles police Det. Dave Garrido.  All four were struck by the gunfire.

A woman and her three young children were also inside a vehicle nearby when the shooting occurred and a child was injured by shards of broken glass. 

Three of the men, including Johnson, were taken to a hospital, but one person refused medical treatment, police said.

Johnson was pronounced dead the next day at 11:30 a.m. The two others who were hospitalized will survive.

Witnesses were not able to provide a description of the shooter. Police believe the motive for the killing is an ongoing fued between two gangs.
