Kustanya Sugrao Buckhalter, 36

Kustanya Sugrao Buckhalter, a 36-year-old black man, was stabbed to death May 30 in Lincoln Park in Long Beach, according to Los Angeles County coroner's records. 

The incident began about 9:05 p.m. when Long Beach police officers received a call about a fight between two males in Lincoln Park at 151 Pacific Ave., according to a news release from the Long Beach Police Department. 

Buckhalter was stabbed during the fight and taken to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 9:31 p.m., according to coroner's records.

Phillip Lester Vargas, a 51-year-old black man, was arrested on suspicion of murder and jailed with bail set at $1,020,000.
