Los Angeles man sentenced in gas station killings

A 25-year-old Los Angeles man was sentenced on Oct. 20, 2008, to two consecutive life terms in prison for the November 2006 shooting deaths of two gas station employees, according to the Los Angeles County district attorney’s office.

Adam Loza was convicted in May 2008 of two counts each of first-degree murder and attempted robbery.

On Aug. 21, 2008, after deliberating for eight days, a jury found Loza's two co-defendants Julio Perez, 24, and Eric Sanford, 17, guilty of two counts of first-degree murder and three counts of attempted robbery and of two counts of first-degree murder and two counts of attempted robbery, respectively.

Perez and Sanford were sentenced in September to 50 years to life in state prison.

Eduardo V. Roco, 74, and Esther C. Arteaga, 32, were shot and killed Saturday, Nov. 4, 2006, in the 22200 block of Avalon Boulevard in Carson during a pre-dawn attempted robbery.
