Loui Javier Martinez, 28

Loui Javier Martinez, a 28-year-old Latino, was fatally shot Saturday, Oct. 22, 2016, near the intersection of Alameda and East 38th Street in Vernon, according to Los Angeles County coroner’s records. 

About 1 a.m., Vernon police responded to a call regarding a shooting in the area, according to a news release from the department. Upon arriving, officers found Martinez with multiple gunshot wounds.

Martinez was taken to a hospital where he later died at 6 a.m., according to coroner’s records.

Detectives said the shooting took place near the middle of the roadway and that another motorist witnessed the incident.  After the shooting, the suspect fled westbound on East 41st Street with the rear bumper dangling off the left corner, police said. The suspect vehicle was described as a blue/green sedan with damage to the rear bumper.
