A story for every victim

Louis Joe Rios, 36

Louis Joe Rios, a 36-year-old Latino, died Sunday, Aug. 14, after he was shot near South Pacific Avenue and West 13th Street in San Pedro, according to Los Angeles County coroner’s records.

About 11:35 p.m., there was a dispute outside a bar and Rios was shot across the street, near an alley, said Los Angeles police Officer George Romulo. Two other people, ages 29 and 17, were also shot but expected to survive, Romulo said.

Police believe the shootings were gang-related, because some others in the group had gang ties.

Rios was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 2:18 a.m. Aug. 14, according to coroner’s records.

Relatives told KTLA-TV that Rios was a father of four.

Anyone with information about this incident is asked to contact Romulo at (310) 726-7880. Those who wish to remain anonymous can call Crime Stoppers at (800) 222-8477.
