[Updated at 9:44 a.m. Dec. 27: Sheriff's homicide Det. Kevin Acebedo, who is handling the case, said deputies received a 911 call about a shooting and found Johnson injured on the street, not the sidewalk as earlier reported by the coroner.

Johnson was shot during a drive-by, Acebedo said, although investigators do not have a description of the shooter or the getaway vehicle.

The incident is most likely gang-related, he said.

Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to contact Acebedo at (323) 890-5500. Those wishing to remain anonymous can call Crime Stoppers at (800) 222-8477.]
