Luis Adolfo Chales, a 34-year-old Latino, was fatally shot Tuesday, Sept. 6, in the 4500 block of West 16th Place in Mid-City, according to Los Angeles County coroner's records.
About 4 a.m., Chales was riding a bicycle in the area when he was shot at from a black sedan, said Los Angeles Police Lt. John Radtke.
Residents reported hearing shots at 4:06 a.m., and heard a vehicle speeding away, Radtke said.
Chales was found in the street on his bike and was pronounced dead at at 4:22 a.m., according to coroner's records.
A residential video camera in the area captured an an image of a black sedan speeding away, Radtke said.
Police are looking for additional witnesses. Chales was not a known gang member, and worked as a house painter. He rented a room in the area, Radtke said.
