Luis Garcia, a 25-year-old Latino, was shot and killed Sunday, May 31, in the 500 block of West 78th Street in Vermont Knolls, according to Los Angeles County coroner’s records.
Shortly before 4 a.m., Garcia got into an argument with a female companion, said LAPD Det. Chris Barling. During the argument, a silver or gray SUV drove by and the driver inside also got into an argument with Garcia. He then pulled out a gun and shot Garcia, Barling said.
Garcia was pronounced dead at the scene at 4:02 a.m., said Ed Winter, assistant chief of investigations for the coroner's office. The SUV drove west on West 78th Street, Barling said.
