Luis Rene Luna, a 24-year-old Latino, was shot and killed Wednesday, April 13, in the 14300 block of Haynes Street in Van Nuys, according to Los Angeles County coroner’s records.

About 1:30 p.m., Luna was confronted by a man outside a condominium complex, said Los Angeles police Det. Dave Peteque. Luna was stabbed, and the man ran away, he said.

Luna was pronounced dead at a hospital.

With the assistance of gang detectives and officers, police were able to narrow down a suspect, Peteque said. Josue David Morales, a 24-year-old Latino, was arrested on suspicion of murder April 15.
